Many of you will be familiar with the Windguru website as a source of weather information. Now Horning has been added as a location and can be found at Windguru.
This can be accessed where you see the Winguru logo on the HSC website, where a local forecast will be available.

As part of the Horning Boat Show, on 4th May 2013, the Sailing club will be offering 'try Sailing' sessions.

With regret, Tim Joiner has tendered his resignation as Vice Commodore. The Manangement Committee offer their thanks to Robert Hancock for agreeing to step in as Acting Vice Commodore with immdiate effect.
With his continuing responsibility for the Training Centre, and with 2013 being HSC's 75th anniversary, we are sure the membership will wish to offer Robert their full support and assistance in this additional role.
We also thank Tim Joiner for all his hard work and commitment over the last 18 months.

There is a First Aid course running on 27th April, at the Clubhouse, between 10:00 am and 4:30pm. There are still some spaces available. Anyone wishing to renew their First Aid certificate (they are valid for 3 years) or get one for the first time, should contact Bob Hancock seamasterhollies@btinternet.com as soon as possible. Cost to club members will be no more than £30.

There will be a working party for the RYA Training Centre SATURDAY, 20TH APRIL from 9.00 am - 1.00 pm.
Tasks include: clean up the boats and check sails, rigging, buoyancy aids, tidy up the shed etc. Hope to see you there, whether for just an hour or all morning. Please could come prepared, with cleaning equipment etc. this would be helpful.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.

HSC has organised a Duty Training Day for the 13th April, at the clubhouse between 10am - 4 pm. Subjects covered include:

• Officer of the Day
• Timekeeping
• Dory preparation and use (land based)
• Radio use
• Galley

The mooring and berthing plans can now be found here. This now includes the allocation of moorings / berths for dinghies.

The berthing plan for tenders on the island is now available.

Colin Facey will be running a safety boat refresher and demonstration at the club house. Friday 22nd (7:30pm) will be a theory session, followed by a practical session on the Saturday morning. This includes a demonstration of man overboard proceedure, use of the recovery mats and how to recover an inverted dinghy. Those allocated for rescue duty are particluarly encouraged to attend.

The duty rota and berthing plans for wet berths (island and river) are now available. Dinghy berth allocations will follow shortly.

Congratulations! HSC has been working towards RYA Champion Club status and we are pleased to announce that this was awarded at The Dinghy Show on Sunday, 3rd March 2013. Many thanks to all those who have helped the Sailing Club achieve this. Thanks to Robert and Colin for collecting this award on behalf of the club.
